How I Record 1080p HD Gameplay

Equipment I use:

For recording live gameplay andio and video

1 1080p HD Television 1 XBOX 360 with HDMI output cables 1 Blackmagic Design H.264 Pro Recorder
1 HDMI Splitter
3 HDMI Cables 1 USB Cable

How I connect all this equipment together:

Step 0 - Buy an XBOX 360 with either HDMI output or an XBOX to HDMI output cable.

Step 1 - Plug the first HDMI cable into the HDMI output port of your Xbox 360.

Step 2 - I use a powered HDMI splitter to maintain the highest quality signal to both my HDTV and HD video recorder.

Step 3 - Connect the other end of the first HDMI cable to the input port on the HDMI splitter.

Step 4 - Connect the second and third HDMI cables to the output ports on the HDMI splitter.

Step 5 - Connect the other end of the second HDMI cable to one of the HDMI input ports on your 1080p HD television.

Step 6 - Connect the other end of the third HDMI cable to the HDMI input port on your Blackmagic Design H.264 Pro Video Recorder.

Step 7 - Connect a USB cable to the USB output port on your Blackmagic Design H.264 Pro Video Recorder.  The other end of the USB cable will connect to one of the USB ports on the computer you will use to capture and record your live gameplay video.  I have found that it is helpful to use a long USB cable and short HDMI cables so I can keep most of the equipment close to the XBOX 360 and television.

Step 8 - Power up all of the equipment.

Step 9 - Start the video recording software on your computer.

Step 10 - Start recording HD gameplay!
