Equipment I use:
For recording live gameplay andio and video |
For adding live audio commentary |
1 XBOX 360 with HD output cables | 1 Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR | 1 5 RCA Component Video Amplifier | 2 5 RCA Component Audio Video Cables | 1 Audio Mixer | 1 Microphone | 1 RCA Audio Cable | |
How I connect all this equipment together:
Step 0 - Buy an XBOX 360 with a component audio video cable. Note that the Xbox 360 Arcade is packaged with a standard (composite) audio video cable. I recommend the Xbox 360 Pro for anyone considering serious online gameplay.
Step 1 - Make sure the switch on the Xbox component cable is set to HDTV.
Step 2 - Plug the Xbox 360 component cable into the back of your Xbox 360.
Step 3 - I use a component audio video amplifier to maintain the highest quality signal to both my HDTV and HD video recorder.
Step 4 - Connect the other end of the Xbox 360 component audio video cable to the input of the component video amplifier. Since you are using the component video cables the yellow standard video cable should be left unconnected.
Step 5 - Connect the first 5 RCA component audio video cable to output 1 on the component video amplifier. The other end of this cable will connect to the component inputs on your HDTV. Refer to the owners manual of your HDTV to properly configure your TV for use with your Xbox 360.
Step 6 - Connect the second 5 RCA component audio video cable to output 2 on the component video amplifier.
Step 7 - Connect the other end of the second 5 RCA component audio video cable to the component inputs on the back of the Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR.
Step 8 - Connect the USB cable that came with the Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR to USB port on the back. The other end of the USB cable will connect to one of the USB ports on the computer you will use to capture and record your live gameplay video.
Step 9 - Power up all of the equipment.
Step 10 - Start the video recording software on your computer.
Step 11 - Start recording HD gameplay!
